About Coach

Coach Tyler Johnson brings 17 years of elite, multi-sport experience to Colorado Elite Strength & Speed. As a strength & conditioning specialist, defensive football coordinator, basketball and track coach, and science teacher, Tyler bridges the gap between raw athletic power and the deep sports science behind it. He is also the co-creator of Athsleep, pioneering cutting-edge sleep and recovery protocols engineered specifically to help athletes optimize their rest for peak game-day performance.

A local Douglas County High School graduate, Tyler played football at Colorado Mesa University (2001–2006) before earning his Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Colorado State University in 2009.

Tyler and his wife, Shannon, a fellow performance trainer at Colorado Elite, have four children: Carson, JJ, Sean, and Kinley. For the Johnson family, fitness is a lifestyle they pursue together. Tyler is deeply dedicated to developing the entire person by fostering work ethic, mental toughness, and a steadfast attitude, considering it the ultimate honor to impact his athletes’ lives.
